Access to higher education and professional training often provides life-changing opportunities for individuals, their families, and our collective future. We focus on impactful partnerships with local universities and organizations to provide scholarships and training/mentoring for aspiring students from underserved communities. Our scholarship recipients include veterans, military, caregivers of wounded warriors, and victims of human trafficking, among others.
SCHOLARSHIPS – University of Texas at Austin
TISTA is in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin for the 2nd consecutive year to sponsor multiple scholarships for veteran and military students in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Through this partnership with the Office of Student Veterans Affairs at UT Austin, we support the students who have served in our Nation’s military.
TISTA is also supporting UT Austin’s ‘Women in Computer Science (WiCS)’ program and other programs. We collaborate with the University by participating in Hack-a-thons, tech-shares, and other events.
SCHOLARSHIPS – University of Maryland, Global Campus
TISTA partners with the University of Maryland, Global Campus for the 2nd consecutive year in sponsoring a Pillars of Strength scholarship.
TISTA is forever grateful for our military, veterans, and their families in the sacrifices and commitment they make for our beloved country. This program provides a 4-year degree scholarship with the University for a caregiver of a wounded warrior. We understand these caregivers are often balancing many aspects of recovery. Supporting the education of caregivers can lead to career and financial stability, is an important ingredient to the long-term care and success of our wounded warriors and their loved ones.
DIGITAL ACCESS
TISTA promotes digital access by donating corporate computing devices to those in need. Personal technology, such as laptops, is essential for many communities to access direct services, search for employment, and continue education. Recipients include survivors of human trafficking, veterans, and students.
HOUSING & EDUCATION
Housing is critical for human trafficking survivors who are in transition to rebuild their lives. We work with University of Maryland SAFE Center’s “Housing + Education” program, to provide rental assistance for survivors to enable safe housing, employment, and educational pursuits.
TRAINING & MENTORING
Per Scholas has a mission to open doors to technology careers for individuals from often-overlooked communities. TISTA’s partnership with Per Scholas provides workshops (3-4 times per year). Our Associates volunteer to share their experience, knowledge, and advice to individuals seeking a career in Information Technology. The workshops cover a variety of topics including how to develop as an aspiring IT professional, learning from challenges and obstacles, the many IT careers to consider, and resume & interview tips. This year, TISTA expands our partnership to offer mentoring opportunities and a resume building workshops with our internal Talent Acquisition team.
